Hi All,
Just wondering what we all think of this radio and if it is worth the $$$?

Thanks

It depends on what you want to use it for. It's somewhat awkward to program, and use. It's not great as a "scanner", as the scan speed is very slow. It doesn't follow trunked systems, it can't decode the newer digital systems. I've never seen any decent software developed for it. It's mediocre as a shortwave receiver also. That being said, and considering what it cost, I would say no, it's not worth the money.

I would keep away from Alinco Scanners for the simple fact is there is not much software to support them and I know a few people that had a bad experience including myself with the DJX10E and DJX2000 and I returned back to the store and got my money back.

Regards Lino Melbourne Australia.

Amongst the scanners I regularly use are a DJ-X10 and DJ-X2000. The DJ-X10 is useful in that the 'discriminator' audio is available on the standard unit. Both are good receivers but fairly poor scanners. Both are quite easy to use - especially so for having a built in help system. Having access to all bands (not US model) and all modes is very worthwhile rather than the limitations imposed by most Uniden/Radio Shack models. Shortwave performance isn't too bad for a handheld but certainly wouldn't be a reason to buy one.
Second hand price aren't good (for sellers!).
