Alinco: Alinco DR-MD520

I have a new MD520 and am having difficulty programming digital DMR channels. I have used RT SYstems and Alinco CPS and am not able to transmit DMR. I can connect to a hotsopt. I can't see what the issue is. Tech support has been no help and the "manual" is not very detail oriented.

I tried a factory reset (hold P2+channel know+power) and that does not reset the radio.

Any ideas would be appreciated, or someone willing to look at my codeplue

Setting up codeplugs for DMR radios can be a bit more difficult than those for analog radios since they contain more "moving parts" however, once you get your head wrapped around the requirements you should be able to do so successfully. A few questions:

1. Are you certain that you're within range of the repeater?

2. Can you successfully program and use an analog channel on this radio?

3.You stated that you can connect to a hotspot. Is this a simplex or duplex hotspot? Does "connect" mean that you've successfully communicated with someone else?

4. Are you certain that you have the correct information for the DMR repeater that you're trying to use? That information would include TX and RX frequencies, color code, time slot and approved talkgroups? If you know others who successfully use the repeater, it would be good to confirm that information with them. I've found that websites like Repeaterbook often contain outdated information.. especially with DMR repeaters.

I have the MD-500 & that was the latest and greatest Alinco.
I suppose I've been downgraded now lol
I use the software that came with my 500 and haven't had any problems YET

I have the 520 T and found RT systems software made programming pretty easy. It has a "fill in the blanks" portion for DMR .

Hello Doug !

Please share a screenshot of a single CHANNEL which you desire to program for DMR. I can help troubleshot the programming if you still need some advice.

I own a 520T and have analog and DMR channels in my rig and all work well. I have used the Alinco CPS software all along to program my rig. I also upgrade the firmware recently also. I was able to load the DMR directory also which allows the rig to display information about a user you are receiving on the display, if it is available.

You say you can connect to a hotspot, ok, you're seeing that on the screen of the hotspot I guess? If you can connect to a hotspot you are transmitting DMR, we need a little more info here to help you.
