All Denver Media to share one chopper

If others did not see the article in today's paper the Denver Post is reporting that KCNC will join KUSA and KMGH who have already been sharing a single helicopter since Jan 2009.

Breaking news situations will be a single feed from the air.

So much for those days when you could have 4 TV's set up (as I do) and watch four separate feeds during breaking news.

Well I hope the chopper doesn't get grounded for mechanical or anything stations would be fighting over missing a big event.

In Boston Channel 25 WFXT Fox and WBZ 4 CBS recently combined choppers.

That leaves

Channel 5 WCVB ABC
Channel 7 WHDH NBC

And the traffic helicopter which provides traffic information for all of the media (Westwood/Metro Systems).

Ideally it would be nice it there were 2 media helos in a market that way one can cover another scene. But since most news stations cover the same events :-( its counter productive.
