I live in Scottsdale at Drinkwater/Osborn, right across the street from Honor Osborn Hospital. This area is already pretty much a 10-1 area. All I can get reliably is Simulcast H: Scottsdale site & 90% of the time Thompson PK site on RWC. Once in a while TOPAZ Mesa simulcast and many other RWC sites come to life but then fade out again. My discone antenna sits on a 20' roof on a 4' mast on a 3' tripod. The antenna is probably obscured by a decorative concrete wall on the roof. We are going to re-mount the antenna to the wall itself on a 17 or 18' mast, this should raise it about 20' on top of the 20' roof. This should improve reception considerably. I will also be installing a 700-900 MHz yagi on the mast in-line with the discone. I had originally planned to aim the Yagi at the White Tanks site until Monday when the White Tanks site was coming in on and off. Now my plan is to aim it at the new county system Southeast Mesa Simulcast site which I assume is in Maricopa County Southeast complex at Mesa Drive/US60 on Coury St at the pumps. My question is, should I am it at MCSO Southeast or TOPAZ Mesa Simulcast. I don't know to much about this P25 stuff. Would the cooler improve reception? Because I seem to be getting all P25 systems better since the weather started cooling down.
