The plot thickens. Now this is happening, and this is on the same computer I programmed the scanner about a month ago.

What am i missing. I have all the speeds set the same on the software, port and the scanner.

Almost bald, and black and blue from ear lobe to ear lobe!

Try going to device manager and disabling the comport the radio is set to, then go to device manager and enable it. I have had to do this lately and it works everytime. Not sure when this began, but I recently bought a Blackberry Curve. The comport for the Curve is not com one, but for the radio it is. This error shows up on Don's DMA scanner finder software as well. I'm using Vista Ultimate. Give it a try.

Vince.

Hi..I am trying to reband it but it won't take..I downloaded the files, installed the installer, unplugged scanner, held L/O and 6, plugged in scanner, set com port and baud, selected file, ran installer, but I still get communicaton error? I can control the scanner using my computer, upload and download from scanner so the scanner is being seen..I rebanded my BC246T without problems. Any ideas? I did what the instructions say. I shut scanner off and on each time I tried it. My firmware version is 1.03.04 Thanks..Keithmj

1) What scanner?
2) Any other software running?
3) When you hold L/O+6 with power on, does the scanner power up with a blank screen and backlight on?

Did you check that your baud rate setting equals what the BC_UP program is looking for?

BCT15, no other software is running, baud rate is set and same. I tried two different settings, holding L/O and 6 I get blank lite up screen. I get the same error that Rabbtiswise on page two post #24 gets.. I am going to try it on another computer using just the serial cable to see what happens.

I tried it on another computer that I stream from using com1 and a serial cable instead of a USB adapter and get the same error message as in post #24. I downloaded the files again and tried it again with the same results..Thanks..Keithmj

I have been using the rear port. I didn't think it mattered..Will try it again..

Done

Not sure what that part means...

BCT15: Be sure you are using the scanner's front port for the update.

You asked what scanner I was using, I am using a BCT15. I was using the rear port as I thought they were just the same. As soon as I used the front one it took the update..Thanks..Keithmj

NOTE..USE THE FRONT PORT FOR UPDATES ON THE BCT15.

I've clarified the instructions for the BCT15 to indicate this (thought I already had, but must have been the BCD996T...).

How will I know if I need to re-band?

I'm in St Louis, Mo and the STLMPD just changed over to P25 Digital. I can hear them at points but the signal is garbled and comes and goes even when close to their transmission tower. I have a couple of Uniden BCD996T's and a BC796D. I need to know if I should re-band them or use them as they are. Any suggestions or info for the st Louis area scanning area would be helpful or point me to the forum to find what i need. Thanks.

Could someone post step by step procedures for the firmware upgrade for the BC15? How do you install the BCT15 V1 file since it isn't a .exe file?

That has nothing to do with rebanding. It's because you are in a simulcast digital system. Look up CQPSK in the WIki for possible fixes. But update your radio anyways.

What about the BC780XLT? I have resurrected it to track the activity related to work on the Milwaukee Wi. Motorola system.

When will the software be able to show the rebanded information. As of right now, I have to enter it manually, which isn't working to great, and is causing some issues with the scanner.
