Hey folks,

I have finally finished programming my Uniden BC796D scanner (at least I think I'm up to date with programming). The one bank of freqs I have yet to hear any comms on is my Allegan EDACS. I programmed in the tower freqs, then I loaded in the ID codes. Still nothing.

I'm able to pick up Allegan Fire on conventional freqs, and I'm also getting Allegan CPD clearly on P25, but the EDACS isn't working. I can't imagine Allegan Sheriffs just aren't talking.

Any suggestions would be most helpful.

You can monitor ProVoice with this set-up, unless it is encrypted Pro Voice which if so you would be SOL.:
Digital Speech Decoder (software package) - The RadioReference Wiki
There is no Pro Voice scanner, but with the above computer set-up, you can monitor unencrypted Pro Voice transmissions. A scanner will not even acknowledge Pro Voice transmissions in trunk mode so that is why you're not even hearing the digital noise.

He noted that in his first post that he hears them there -- he just was confused about the quiet on EDACS.

Thanks for the help, guys. I wasn't aware the Allegan EDACS was broadcast where no scanner could listen to it...

I was doing an "ID Search" tonight and the ID 13062 popped up several times with very crisp audio. It sounded like dispatch of some kind. Anybody else trip on this ID, and if so, do you know what it is? I cross-referenced the ID with all the IDs available in this database and it's not listed.

13062 is in the db as MMR N Dispatch (EMS). You sometimes hear them outside of their normal coverage area when they are doing transfers and such.

Hey Jim, what does MMR stand for? Forgive me for not knowing; I'm new to this digital thing..

I'm picking up Ionia CDP clearly on ID 3100 using the Cannonsburg Tower freqs, however, I'm not getting any of the other Ionia digital comms. Do all the Ionia P-25 channels operate on the Cannonsburg tower?

Thanks!

Which tower freqs to I need to program in to pick up the following counties?

Allegan
Barry
Montcalm
Newaygo

There are so may tower freqs. I just want to make sure I put in the right ones so I can monitor these counties.

Ionia comes in clearly on the Cannonsburg tower, so I managed to figure that one out.

Thanks!

You may run into some "out of receiving range" issues, but for best results, if you want to monitor a given county's traffic, you will need to be listening to the towers located in or adjacent to those counties. This is because, in order for you to receive a given talkgroup, an MPSCS user's radio on that talkgroup needs to be affiliated (somewhat like roaming) on the tower you are currently monitoring.
