Does anybody know when/if Allegan will be joining the MPSCS system? It's been close to three months since news started to trickle out about this being a possibility. If this happens, it will be a good thing for Southwest Michigan listeners.

Allegan is the one county that can't be monitored.
There are some conventional frequencies in Allegan, but very few.

Where was that posted that they are looking at switching? What news article? I know they get a lot of money from the Casino that could make it possible for them to switch at least the county but all the other departments, that would be a big cost to them. I really don't see it happening.

I am looking at putting up a Allegan feed off their Provoice system in the next month.

This is currently posted when on the "MPSCS News" page when you go into the database:

MPSCS News Update — May 24, 2014

Allegan County

Allegan County officials are currently exploring the idea of joining the MPSCS. Their current EDACS ProVoice system will no longer be supported by Harris Radio, Inc., starting in 2017. This means their extant radio system will need to be completely upgraded to Project 25 compliant standards. There is a lot of strong support from first responders throughout the county to join the MPSCS, since it would allow them interoperable communications with neighboring counties, and the state of Michigan. This would be especially true during local emergencies, or a widespread disaster.

Also, after the plane crashed in Allegan on Monday, August 11th, the Allegan MPSCS Police Dispatch frequency was active.

I thought Allegan PD was exclusively on the Provoice System, but there was a BUNCH of chat on the trunked MPSCS ID.

They may have patched it like they used to just for the plane crash. Yes All of Allegan has the Provoice radios but State Troopers have a county and state radio since they do not patch Allegan dispatch to the states system anymore.
This is like Kent County moving over. No way to know if or when. Just have to wait and see.

They definitely patched it over, because I heard the entire search for the plane, the discovery of the wreckage and discovery of the body on the MPSCS Allegan Police Dispatch ID.

Clearly, they needed to patch it over so they could communicate with other agencies, who are all on MPSCS.
The plane crash should be a message well sent to Allegan -- get off the Provoice system sooner than later.

I have not heard a peep from that ID since mid day Monday when the plane crash stuff was wrapping up.

They won't use the patch all of the time like they used to in the past. They don't want anyone listening to them. They will need to switch as their system is going down the toilet and there is no more support for it.

And why doesn't Allegan want anybody listening to them?
Surrounding counties in West Michigan seemingly don't care if they're listened to.

Because the Sheriff doesn't want anyone to know what they are doing. This is the same Sheriff that walked in and disbanded the Posse after what maybe 41 years. Did this without warning. Criminals don't go out and buy $500.00 scanners to listen to the state system. There are plenty of departments that beg citizens to listen and call in tips. It is actualy a good law enforcement tool.

I wonder if Consumers for Ingham county will also have problems? I know Ingham does some ProVoice.
