Allegheny County,Butler County, Digital or Analog

Question is Allegheny County and Butler County digital or analog ? I am thinking of getting back into scanning and would like to start with a low cost scanner or am I better off just buy one of the digital models? Thanks

Both Allegheny and Butler Counties are currently analog. Butler County has begun the process of building out a new system which will be digital. If you purchase an analog only radio you will be good, but not for long. Butler's new system is rumored to be coming on sometime in 2018. I believe fire/EMS paging will remain analog, but I can't confirm.
