Alpha Tags Question

Probably a stupid question but i can't find a answer anywhere i have looked yet.

I am in the midst of trying to setup trunking scanning on my Pro-97.

One of the areas im programing into the Alpha tags meaningless with no descriptiveness to them.
like 3a 3b etc.

Can I rename them to be more descriptive or will that mess it up?

This is my first day messing with the trunking so I'm slowly figuring it out as I go along with help from the wonderful site here.

You can put anything you want, just don't change the talk group ID#. The Pro-97 has 16 characters. You can toggle between your text or the talk group ID#, by pressing the TEXT button when a talk group ID# appears in scan mode, remember when you change between text or talk group ID#, it will change it for all talk groups.

Thanks I thought it was just text but i wasn't sure and I didn't want to waste time reprograming it if I could avoid it.

I strongly suggest you DL & use win97, save a whole lot of hassles. will also need the programming cable
