Curious to know what going on with the city of Alpharetta, since about 5 o'clock yesterday(the 21st) my Uniden 246t has been dead silent. I also have Roswell programmed and its the same way. I checked all the settings and everything is correct. If anyone had any info it would be greatly appreciated.

If you can't find Alpharetta PD & FD on the Fulton County 800 MHz analog system you might want to search the Atlanta UASI System. I know all of the cities in North Fulton (Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Roswell and Sandy Springs) have been talking about switching to the Atlanta UASI System on a full time basis due to the unreliability of the aging Fulton County System. I'm not sure where they are in this process, but it could be that one or two of the cities may go on the UASI System first to see how it performs before the others jump on board. All depends on who gets the governances, agreements and funding in place first.

Also, check to make sure you didn't accidentally lock out your control channel (like I did for about 2 hours). You can still hear Roswell fire on 460.6000.
Thanks for the responses. I checked all my control channels and they are al unlocked. When i search the individual channels of the Fulton TRS I hear them, but in scan mode its silent. It leads me to believe there reassigning TGID if they do that sort of thing ever.

I scanned both Alpharetta and Roswell today and heard them loud and clear. Do you have the TG's locked out?
Yeah i checked all the groups and everything was unlocked. So i went ahead and restored it to factory, reprogrammed and im still getting nothing. B7 i think you might have confirmed my worse fear.... Is there a good repair place in the metro ATL area that you or anyone has used. For the record I have been using a Uniden 246T

Are you able to receive ANYTHING on the Fulco system? When you tune to the control channel, do you hear it? Also, have you programmed it to a MOT system?
I just monitored Alpharetta PD loud and clear on the Fulton Co TRS. Just make sure you have all the right control channels programmed AND that you have it programmed as "control channel only." I'd be happy to take a look at it if you still can't get it working right. Just send me a PM if you need me to do that.

Yea I can hear stuff on the Fulton system if I just listen to each individual channel (I put all 16 channels of the Fulton TRS), but when I do TGID Search or Scan nothing ever comes up. I hear Alpharetta but the radio cant isolate the TGID even when the radio is in TGID scan mode where it scans the TRS and broadcast only the TGs programmed. Thanks again for the responses.

What are you using to program your radio with? It sounds like you don't have it set up as a TRS.
I have been just using the manual that came with it, Im pretty sure im programing it as a MOT sys I just can't scan TGs on the Fulton sys. The weird thing is if i listen to an individual voice channel I hear APD, but only when they transmit on that voice channel.

You do not have it programmed in Trunk mode. You have it in FM mode. That is why you are hearing the Control Channel noise, and only hearing parts of conversations. Go to www.sixspotsoftware.com the new site for FreeScan and download the programming software. That and a 1/4 year premium membership here on RR. Do you have the serial cable for the scanner? It is neccessary to upload the system to the 246T. Or, if you let us know your location in the metro area, maybe someone could help you.

I have a Pro 197 and get bits and pieces of north and south Fulton, ChatCom, and Alpharetta and Roswell.
However I am not able to follow a full conversation Also would be nice to know what I'm listening to. I am not the best with programming scanners Didn't know if anyone could help me. I live in Alpharetta.

You are going to have to program it as a Motorola Type II system. The wiki has info on it.
