Hello all! When I have my radio set to scan FRS,GMRS,county and a few other things... Channel 22 of FRS always stops my scan and I never "hear" anything on it. I still a newbie so to speak... Reckon what it is or can I just modify squelch settings or something to bypass it. I entered to "skip" it in my programming, but it still stops there.....

Thanks in advance

I encounter this problem as well, but on many frequencies other than FRS. I am anxious to see if others can possibly explain this.

The radio on my desk ( that's always with me ) is an 8watt Baofeng HT.... I have picked up a mobile unit, but have not programmed it... nor is my tower up at home yet

Interference from something, most likely. It especially happens when the rx side is just CSQ. There are a few places in town where my mobile ham radio will pickup some interference.

Do you mean constantly like 100% of the time it's noise or just sporadically? If you move it around to different areas of the house or whatever do you still have the issue?

Thanks for planting that seed.... I carried it outside and indeed it will scan past it, however it's not like static... It's like someone is keyed up, clear. I have caught the faint sound of CW on it, but not often.

just stay outside....
ok i thought originally it was a 'birdie' that is a radio generated signal that sounds like an open mic, but never stops.
now it is something in your house, so start pulling plugs., and remember somethings (routers cable boxes) have an internal battery backup.
if i recall correctly some guy said it was his washer making the signal.
