My AM antenna seems to be about 30-40 ft wrapped around a square plastic case.
Would it help reception if I unwound it...???
short of buying C Cranes overpriced AM extender product... how can I get better AM..???
would thicker wire help.... I have room outside to experiment with
different ideas..I have about 30 ft of roof eave going by the window where the
radio is.. What about running the wire straight up that ..??? I could have it
re enter the room at the window......
What do you think...??

Run as much wire as far as you can.

Keep in mind the wavelength for the AM broadcast band is something like 300+ meters.

Now we're trying to make a loop antenna into a long wire? They're two different antennas each with a specific function so rather than destroying a useful directional antenna just string a wire and use each for its intended purpose.

So what about the loop? It has a bidirectional pattern off the sides so by rotating it you can null certain signals bettering reception of others on the same frequency.
