J if you get really into it consider finding a radio with a narrow /wide switch or ssb .to break up those pile ups.or you can use a old HiFi eq if you have one.

I've known about the graveyard stations for some time but never had a lot of luck until I picked up the Wellbrook loop last May. Since then I've managed 9 new stations in the 1400 - 1700 range. I probably could have got more, but I never listened much during the summer.

I took another listen this morning just before sun up and logged KKTY, Douglas Wyoming on 1470 Khz (First WY station I've ever logged).

My radio has most of the bells and whistles.. I'm using an IC-7600 ham radio.. IC-7600 HF/50MHz All Mode Transceiver - Features - Icom America

So I guess I have a new quest now logging the weak ones in the graveyard during the long winter nights :)

Here are some I snagged recently (10/15/16). I'm located near Richmond, VA using a County Comm GP-5/SSB (a relabeled Tecsun PL-360 with SSB added):

820AM CHAM 10kW
Hamilton, ON

830 WCCO 50kW
Minneapolis, MN

840 WHAT 50kW
Louisville KY

850 WKNR 4.7kW
Cleveland OH

860 CJBC 50kW Toronto ON

860 Radio Reloj
Cuba (don't know where or the power used)

The clear channel stations aren't much to brag about, but still fun!

For Graveyard channels I have found the old GE Superadios (1 and 2 especially) are excellent, because they have a wide enough bandwidth to hear more fidelity and more IDs.

Walkmen radios are also good for this, but you need a loop to boost the signal.

I have to ask, how do you like this antenna? Does it do a good job at nulling out the adjacent channel interference at all? I have read different reviews but it is always best to get reviews from an actual user and not the companies paid reviewer.

Honestly you have to be in a non electronic noise environment and have it grounded. Or run you're Radio and the antenna DC. That being said first DX station loged was WBAP via Texas from upper Michigan. And can get stations never heard before. Haven't tried the mount yet. Besides seing if nulling is present. It is. The problem u run into is you have to turn off the internal rod .or use a communication s receiver. The 36db of gain overloads a DX quality am FM radio through induction

After reading that the Sangean HDR-18 had excellent AM performance, I decided to band scan the AM dial from Southern California to see what I could pick up. Considering this is a plug in radio I thought the results were pretty good. There is some noise on the low end of the AM band as a result of nearby hi-voltage lines. Also, the ferrite is mounted on the side of the cabinet, so this would give better reception to stations North/South of my location in Burbank, CA. Subsequent DXing before sunrise has opened up more stations East and Northeast of my location.

Cool logging video-that Sangean has nice audio. Pretty darn good reception too for an internal stick.

Last night I caught a neat DX. I often fall asleep to KNX out of Los Angeles on 1070kHz on my good old Realistic DX-160 connected to the Wellbrook loop on my roof. I happened to tune just off there to 1060kHz and caught CKMX out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada at exactly 1000 miles from me. Interestingly, it's an all-comedy station.

^^^^^^ CKMX are local strength here in Western Washington. Very tight null, in which sometimes a Hispanic station in Reno can be heard (ex-KFOY, used to be sports), and on rarer occasions another station in Idaho.

I believe it as you're quite closer to it than I am. Also they're 50,000 watts 24/7 but still a cool DX for me as a long-distance catch. I have a hell of a time getting anything that far I guess due to my location. I would have a heart attack if I could just once catch something east of Wyoming:D

Ridge,
Give KMOX AM 1120 St. Louis MO a try... 50 kw day and night non directional. There is an 50 kw OR station on the same freq but being off to the side should be able to be nulled out. Otherwise just relatively lower power stuff on that freq at night.

If you hear it, please don't have a heart attack. ;)

HAHA! Ok I'll do my best:D This one will be interesting as KPNW comes in very strong on 1120 on both antennas. Maybe I can work it with SSB and the Wellbrook.
