a29 good stuff!! Kinda enjoy the time of sunset/pattern change/etc too, because low power stations
seem to "jump" in about that time of day. Sometimes..they'll start rollin' in from the north..and quickly
it'l change to the south or ?, all within minutes!! Kinda like "every sunset is different"..seems like
every "radio" sunset has its own surprises, too...
Been tryin out a C Crane twin-coil ferrite..and been hearin sone strange stuff!!

Couple oldies for 'ya. Before the digital revolution, I had my R71a hooked up to a longwire, phased against a 70 ft vertical hanging in a pine tree. This combo was KILLER on the AM BC band. You guys in Texas or Arizona will probably think "Big deal", but up here in the north woods, these are tough!

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread. I've been rebuilding my shack after moving..so, today, I dusted off the old DX-160, strung up about a 100' longwire. We'll see what happens.

But not MUCH tonight...my beloved COLTS are at home!

I got an un-id on 1380...playing a classic country format. Any thoughts on this one? I see there are a few stations on 1380 playing country, but none of them specify classic country that I can see...

Take your best guess^^^ The only thing to do there is sit on that station till they cough up anything telling about location. Your Denver and New York DXs are awesome from your location! I wonder if your unident DX is Tennesee since you got the other ones

Thanks! The TN station was my first guess, but I could never get enough info to even hazard a guess....but maybe I'll try again tonight.

KOA was absolutely BOOMING in...I've heard them quite often in the past, but never quite like last night!

Okay, so I'm sitting here with the radio parked on 531khz, just listening to the general slop wishing that Algeria or Canary Islands would come up when --- WHAM! HOLY RADIO! Vatican Radio opens up at 0115z booming in at S8. Incredible signal!

Edit: Now, see ... I would delete this because I was wrong. They are on 530, not 531.

Well, yeah. That's why it freaked me out. They are on 1611khz or something, but not 531. Turns out it was 530 because they are up again and now I can verify that. Must be relay from ??? (quick charging my video camera)

It's always the same stations and their schedules are pretty much 24/7, so knowing who's there is easy. Actually hearing them is the hard part!
