I've been a member of these forums for more than a year now, I still receive "Your post has to be approved by a moderator to make sure you are not a spammer" message. Do spammers open accounts to start spamming a year later?

Yes I did and I find it silly. I've been a proud member of Gentoo Forums since 2005 and there is no such restriction. Every new member can post whatever they find appropriate, including links. And the forums are still well alive and not sunken into spam.
IMHO you are insulting new members. What happened to presumption of innocence, it used to be a cornerstone of our democracy?
Do you think police should have the right to handcuff anyone they like and take them to the court to figure out whether they did anything wrong or not?

I think you're forgetting that this is not a democracy. This is a privately owned site and the owner has instituted this policy to cut down on the amount of spam that the members have to endure. We find enough spam messages in the moderation queue to keep the policy in place. Another forum that you happen to be a member of isn't going to change the reality of what we see here.

If you feel insulted by these rules, then I would advise you to find another site where you don't feel so insulted.

The point is really moot though. You've made enough posts to reach unmoderated status.

Enjoy the forums. Discussion closed.

I'm pretty sure this policy was implemented for a good reason, as in past experiences dictated it.

And I think it's rather silly to compare moderating new users to police handcuffing someone...but that's just me.
