I've had an old Uniden Bearcat 855XLT for a while and have absolutely loved listening to anything I can pick up on it. I have about 30 channels banked and can pick up County police dispatch, some fire, and a few other agencies.
I've got 2 family members and a good friend that work in an adjoining city police department. I haven't been able to pick up their channels on my 855xlt. I'm asking for a new scanner for a wedding gift from my fiance and wanted to see if I need to get something in particular to pick up their channels.
The city in question is: Scanner Frequencies: Franklin Public Safety Trunking System, Franklin, Tennessee
They just changed radio systems in the past 2 years according to a family member from Analog to something else (digital? trunked?). I'm trying to educate myself but after reading some wiki's, posts and 'dummy' sites I'm still pretty clueless.
I'd just like to know if I would be able to pick up their channels or if they are somehow completely blocked from public.
I really appreciate it.
