Am I doing this right? PRO-106 Scanner

I finally got myself a scanner (PRO-106) and I'm in Cherokee County.

I'm wanting to monitor Cherokee, Woodstock, Roswell, Cobb, Kennesaw, Alpharetta, Acworth areas around me.

I've setup my ScanLists like this

1 - Woodstock PD
2 - Cherokee East
3 - Cobb PD
4 - Kennesaw PD
5 - Acworth
6 - Roswell PD
and so on

Then in each scanlist I've put in each agencies Conventional Freq or Trunk System. I'm picking up everything and even more than I was expecting (in regards to range). From here, I can choose to listen to just Woodstock PD by turning off the scanning of all the other scanlists except for scanlist 1.

Is this how most people are setting up their scanner?

It is all up to you. I live in Cobb so I have it broken up among several scan lists. Fire in list 1, Cobb PD in list 2, Some of the city PDs in list 3 etc.

Whatever works for what you want to do, that is the great part about the flexibility of the scan lists.

Is the range I'm getting something that I can expect to maintain?

In Woodstock I can get Kennesaw and Cobb just fine, I can also get roswell, Alpharetta, Sandy Springs and Johns Creek.

I just got a Pro-106 also and have been programming the ATL Metro area by county. So 1 is all the PD's in Forsyth, 2 all PD's in Fulton etc. One thing I have not found is a frequency yet for the Alpharetta PD, do they just use the Fulton county police frequency's ?

Alpharetta PD has talkgroups apart of the Fulton Co Motorola Type II

I'm using the software that came with the radio to do the updates, makes it really easy.

I am using the Win500, and have been importing from RR. Let me go back and look again and see if I can find these talk groups. Thanks for the link .

The neat thing about the newer high memory scanners, is that you can pick however you want to set up your scanner Absolutely love my scanners.
