I have a PRO-95 Scanner, Data Cable, and WIN95 Programming Software.

I am in Volusia County, Orange City.

What I am trying to listen to is on the Volusia County EDACS System A
I have it programmed in, I can scan just fine, see talk group IDs.

So my main goal was to put in all of the Orange City Fire Dispatch and TAC talkgroup IDs.

I have used the list at http://home.cfl.rr.com/scanner/vcso.htm , and have programmed in the following.

OC FIRE DIS 1713 (Dispatched thru Deltona)
VC FIRE TAC3 0291
VC FIRE TAC2 0290
OC FD DISPTC 0657
OC FD FIREGR 0658
OC FD EVENT 0659
VC FIRE TAC4 0292
VC FIRE TAC5 0293
VC FIRE TAC1 0289
VC FIRE TAC6 0294
VC FIRE TAC7 0295
VC FIRE TAC8 0296
VC FIRE TAC9 0297
VCFIRE TAC10 0298
VCFIRE TAC11 0299
VCFIRE TAC12 0300
VCFIRE TAC13 0301

I have these TalkGroup IDs not locked out.

I have about 15 others in the list, locked out.

And I am running the bank in Closed Mode.

So as I understand it, I should be hearing only stuff I have not locked out, since I do not have the scanner set to Open Mode.

However, I am hearing nothing.... So either I have the wrong TalkGroup IDs, or something is wrong, cause if I set it to Open, I can hear everything, granted nothing I am looking for.

Any ideas?

The one issue I have found with the Pro 95 and EDACS scanning is to make sure you start your LCN on channel 1 not zero.

So if your programing EDACS on a pro 95 lock out channel 0 and start with channel 1.

If what EMS12 suggested doesn't work, please post your .p95 file here and let everyone take a look at it. A lot of times another set of eyes can see something that you may have missed.

Hmmm

Well on Bank 0, I relocated my start channel from 0 to 1, and moved all the rest down, now I am hearing the high pitched beeps after each broadcast, is that normal?

Here's my p95 file, see the above link for channel information

Is it displaying your talk groups?

EDACS does have the beeps at the end of transmissions. But I have never heard them described as High pitched. :D

I am not sure why its important to start with channel 1 with EDACS. But the manual mentioned it and it did solve a lot of "strange" things that were going on with the EDACS system I was listening to.

i see that on the RRDATABASE there is a complete listing for Orange City with fire dispatch on 05-021 and then listings for fire and police. I don't now if the listings are corrrect, but have you tried them.

When I lived in college park section of Orlando I could not receive the Volusia system even with a yagi antenna.

Yea

Yea it is displaying the talkgroup IDs

When I started at 0, it would not play the 4 beeps at the end of the transmission, now it does on 1, that is normal then?

Yes EDACS systems have the little beeps at the end.

When I had mine started at 0 I would set it to ID hold and it would jump to another active VC. It would not just hold the ID.

Now it works fine.

Nope seems to be OK now...

Now I just need to get the proper Trunk ID's for my area. Cause these are outta date. And the problem is, the county dispatch dispatches for like 10 cities in the area. They outsource everything.

I notice on my pro95, that the only time you hear the 4 beeps is when you manually select a frequency. If it is in trunking mode, you dont hear them.

you must enter the frequencies in logical channel number (LCN) order or you will miss many or all transmissions. There is no zero channel number in LCN. Most systems start LCN with 1 so that is where you must start. System can skip a channel number, if they do you must skip that number also. The control channel sends a command to the police radios and your scanner to turn to a specific LCN to pick up a talk group. If your scanner does not have the correct frequency programed in that spot then you will not hear it.
