Those of you using an Echo Dot know you can ask it many questions, but I've found some questions can be very helpful to go with all the nice links the guys supplied me here on RR of broadcast schedules. For instance, say, "Alexa, What is UTC time?" Or when you want to listen to a program say an hour from now, just say, "Alexa, give me a reminder in 55 minutes." It'll ask what the reminder is for, like "Short Wave", and then it'll remind you when it's time for the broadcast. Hey, when you get old and forgetful, any help is nice.

While it's NOT radio, asking Alexa things like...

"Play the news from NHK" or "Play the news from the BBC" you might find others that work. I tried some others, but they were all in a foreign language, even Radio Australia. I've not yet had it long enough to train it to play specific Internet radio feeds.

You can have Alexa play Broadcastify feeds also.

I heard about that, but I still don't know how. I'll have to find something like, "The idiot's guide to Broadcastify feeds on Alexa".

One may want to stray form Amazon and check out Mycroft instead... I found Amazon's whole Alexa Play store/ecosystem to be a fantastic pain in the azz that never worked right. I even tried IFTTT with certain things and could never get it to work right. It was nothing short of a massive let down, frustrating mess.

This is what I heard when I got my first shortwave radio...

By the way, I never thanked you for this information, it was really useful. I configured my Alexa for the local Broadcastify police & fire. Now when when I hear a siren, I can just say, "Alexa, Radio Browser" and it answers, "Local Scanner Frequencies", plays a short commercial and then I'm good to go.
