I find it funny that when on these boards when someone gives an opinion, there is another person who is right and that is it.

I have only read a few posts this evening and I see where the 1st amendment is not highly regarded. I would like to suggest that we are supposed to be qualified communicators. I would further ask that we remember it when typing as well.

I hear all too after an amateur stating what they believe to be fact and not educating themselves in other aspects. I have been playing and using radios professionally for 20 years and still don't know all that much. I just learned about DMR today not enough but some.

I think we all need to take time and listen to what other people have to say or ask, and not jump to conclusions. I was educated by a bunch of patient people and I am grateful they took the time for me.

remember we all got into this hobby for different reasons, but we are all here together.

Unless the 'opinion' is backed up with a quotable source, then an 'opinion' is all that it is.
There are many valuable sources to back up 'opinions', if you can't verify your opinion, then it's best to say nothing.
As Joe says, as soon as someone gives their opinion, the next post will absolutely rubbish it.

I'm happy to give a "+1" if I agree!

There are opinions, and there are incontrovertible facts. Where a lot of people go wrong is getting the two mixed up. There is usually more than one right way to do something, and opinions rendered on the internet are only worth the paper they are printed on.

Are you addressing something specific or just making a general observation?

I have only read a few posts this evening and I see where the 1st amendment is not highly regarded.
Let's deal in facts, not opinions, on this matter. The 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads as follows:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This forum is not run by Congress. This forum is run by a private enterprise. When you post in this forum, you are, in essence, speaking in Lindsay Blanton's house. Lindsay and his appointed forum moderators have posted rules of conduct for these forums and you agreed to abide by those rules when you registered to post in the forums. If Lindsay or the moderators think that what are saying is inappropriate for the forum, we can ask you to stop talking. That is not an infringement on your 1st Amendment rights.

I hear all too after an amateur stating what they believe to be fact and not educating themselves in other aspects.
That is true in many pursuits. Hang out in sports car forums or gun forums and you will hear (read) lots of opinions being expressed; some of which are based on fact and some are not.

I think we all need to take time and listen to what other people have to say or ask, and not jump to conclusions.
Jumping to conclusions is all the exercise some folks get. Let's not deprive them of an opportunity to improve their health.

At this point, I will ask you to read my signature line. The Joe who wrote that is pretty smart, in my opinion.

I was talking in general.
I went back to a post I was in a while back and looked a few others and couldn't help notice that there was a lot of narrow minded thinking, and commenting.

I am by no means an expert on anything or my paycheck would reflect it, I just dislike when people have limited information and feel that is all there is to it. I know this is a societal issue not a board issue, hence my statements.

thanks for taking the time to reply as a moderator.
