Now that it's spring and the severe weather season is approaching here in Wisconsin, I figured I'd post the 2006 frequency assignments used in support of the NWSFO in Milwaukee/Sullivan (MKX). As I get other comfirmed freqs from the ARX and GRB offices, I'll post them here. The below frequencies can be monitored for all incoming spotter reports and outgoing forecast and nowcast information from the MKX meterologists. These channels are monitored by various news media and public saftey agencies in the MKX County Warning Area (CWA) to gather information, so I figured that the responsible scanner listener may want to hear the info as well. As a special note for any hams...At no point should general spotter reports be made on these channels...use your local net for those.

The radio desk uses the callsign WX9MKX, and most communications made with local relays will use tactical calls (by county name or freq.)

2006 SE and SC Wisconsin operations freqs:

East primary: 145.130, PL 127.3
East secondary: 146.820, PL 127.3

Covers local nets from Sheboygan, Fond Du Lac, Ozaukee, Washington, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Kenosha and Racine counties

Central: 147.360, PL 123.0

Covers local nets from Dodge, Jefferson, Dane, Rock, Green, Iowa and Lafayette counties

West primary: 146.685, PL 123.0
West secondary: 173.315, PL 123.0

Covers local nets from Columbia, Green Lake, Marquette, Richland and Sauk counties

Gary,

For Outagamie county.....the back-up repeater is no longer the 146.76 repeater. I'm not sure as to what the new back-up repeater is but the 146.76 is the repeater that is being used for the liason net to the Green Bay NWS office.

Also I noticed that on the coordination table that the 146.76 is listed as being in Chilton. That is not correct as it is actually located in Stockbridge on a state owned tower (state patrol I believe owns it)

I noticed that about the same time that you did... I sent an inquiry to the Milwaukee Regional office to see if they can verify the changeover and if they have a new backup listing. Also, it was explained to me a couple years ago that the "Stockbridge - Chilton" nomenclature is used interchangably on that tower... if I remember correctly, it is on the ridge half way between the two towns and the State Patrol refers to it as "Chilton" and the civilian agencies using equipment on that array refer to it as "Stockbridge".

I'll let y'all know if SkyWarn - Milwaukee gets back to me about the update.
