Not sure if this has been reported anywhere on this forum:

Amateur Radio in Space Pioneer Astronaut Owen Garriott, W5LFL, SK

I heard a contact on December 5 1983 with a tracking station here in Australia, where he worked their amateur radio station who arranged a phone patch to Houston to test what they referred to as "the backup ham system". I have a recording here (of his side of the conversation anyway) and subsequently received a QSL card for a reception report.

Interesting and Thanks for that info link..
Funny had ISS Ham copy this past Monday 4/15/19 11:45am local (1545z) of NA1SS talking to
Texas High school Ham Club KI5AJL.. Course I couldn't hear uplink coms so only heard
Astronaut responding to a few unknown questions but did explain how he brushes his teeth (no sink so spits out into towel)
Short 2 minute conference as ISS moves so fast on 145.800 FM :)
Wonder who is the new US Ham in space now? Mentioned he had wife and kids.
