This link will give you some test dates and which clubs are sponsoring the test. As Ron mentioned it wouldn't hurt to get in touch with one of the clubs and start to listen to their repeaters and the nets to get a good feel of things.

Here is some information that might be of interest to you. ...
"Last VE Test Session Before Question Pool Change
If you have been studying for or know someone who has been studying for the Technician licnese using the current question pool, RST will offer a Special Test Session during Field Day at the Oro Valley Police Dept. (See above article). We will test at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 24th. Testing for "all license classes" will be available but you "MUST" notify Norm K7OLD and advise him you plan to test and which exam you wish to take. A "New" Technician question pool takes effect July 1st."
