This is an article that appeared a couple of months ago. The landscape of ambulance service is shifting in Boulder County.

Ambulance service to Boulder County mountain towns in question - Boulder Daily Camera

Basically, the City and County have a joint agreement with Pridemark. The contract is up for renewal this year. The City wants a dedicated ambulance service that it won't have to share with the rest of the county. That leaves the county without ambulance service because there aren't enough calls in the county areas to make it worthwhile to have a separate dedicated service. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

An Update

Boulder County has chosen AMR to cover the unincorporated areas of Boulder County. AMR will assign a single ambulance to the area, which is quite large. The unincorporated areas are the mountains, between Boulder and Lyons, between Boulder and Longmont, between Boulder and Erie, and the Eldorado Springs area.

The City of Boulder won't make a decision on their ambulance contract until August.

Does AMR even have radio coverage in the western part of the county?
