In OH/WV, so far, the EDACS / P25 site numbers really did not match up at all.

Thanks for the update!

Mike

In the 1F5 system in Indiana, it looks like site numbers go from north to south in the state. There are 3 known Neighbor sites that have unknown locations. Those being sites 39, 46, and 48. If I was a betting man, 39 should be north of Fort Wayne(site 40), 46 should be Fairmount/Grant county (laterally Fairmount is south of Hartford City (site 45) and north of Winchester (site 47)), and 48 should be Muncie/Delaware county (south of Winchester (site 47). I'll get the info and submit it for Fairmount and Muncie tomorrow.

Thanks. <deleted question -- I see you submitted to the DB>

Even if somebody doesn't capture full data using Unitrunker / Pro96Com / DSDPlus, it'll still be posisble to narrow things down when the CC changes. I don't know how often they rotate, but they do rotate. So for the sites for which we only know one CC right now, when you can't hear it but think you should it likely means it changed and you'll have to hunt for the new CC for that particular site. After waiting for a particular unknown site to cycle through 2-3 control channels over the course of days or weeks, one would know enough frequencies for a given site to be able to nail it down . OF course, if one gets data for a site with UT / DSDPlus / Pro96Com, then you'll obviously have enough to figure it out then.

Agreed on locations. Already have them on the Google Map and in the Wiki (46/48 locations). 39 is Butler IN, and it's on the map and in the wiki.

I've never monitored a Phase 2 system on Unitrunker, is that even possible? On my Phase 1 state-wide system it shows a 65536 TG on the CC, do Phase 2 systems do that as well? I'm currently monitoring 1F5 045, but it's not showing any TG on the CC. Just curious if I'm monitoring Phase 2 correctly.

Per the P25 standard the control channel on a Phase II system is the same as the control channel on a Phase I system, ie always broadcasting Phase I. You shouldn't have any trouble with Unitrunker.

You might want to update your Unitrunker version however. If I recall correctly (memory is a bit fuzzy on this one), the 65536 talkgroup on the control channel is because of a system update which allows broadcasting the FCC callsign of the system over the control channel rather than tying up a voice channel with an analog morse code identifier. Newer versions of Unitrunker and Pro96Com resolve that.

If you still need confirmations for these I might be persuaded to go for a scenic drive this Friday.

Should be able to get the majority of them by shooting straight down US23 then east on US52 toward Ironton and South Point. Might even squeeze in some ferroequinology at the same time.

Rgr that. Well, you will know. If somebody comes gthrough before the weekend for southern Ohio, we'll know about it in this thread. I wouldn't count on it though. I know there are no NEOH guys scheduling any trips down that way time soon. So it's probably safe to say that those sites will still need to be confirmed come the weekend.

We need someone who knows someone with a plane or chopper 😂

Wouldn't that be the #(*$! I'd love to have the opportunity to to just go up in a light aircraft and just cruise around Ohio with my DSDPlus setup. Probably would have gotten somebody to take me by now if I weren't deathly afraid of flying / heights. Gotta find a GA pilot who is willing to let us stuff a Raspberry PI, dongle, ant and cellular modem into the back of a plane.

go hang around Bolton field or OSU airport. I’m sure some college pilot would gladly let you do it for pizza and beer.

I wonder if 1F5 Site 47 is Muncie (Delaware county) Callsign: WPCQ247. It's either very low profile, or not online. A few of those frequencies came up as DMR freqs on UT. WPCQ247 and WQHT567 are not very far away from each other geographically.

Disregard that, I see Site 47 is Winchester, IN. Regardless there are 2 licenses, for 2 different locations on the south side of Muncie. One active, one not.

In my experience, AEP doesn't typically get licensing wrong. It was reported that 854.2125 was the CC for Site 47. 854.2125 is only licensed to Winchester.

FCC Callsign WPCQ247 (AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER SERVICE CORPORATION) - Winchester
854.2125
855.0125
855.3625
856.3125
857.8375
858.8625

And it is not unusual for them to have EDACS and P25 running side by side for a period of time. They did that with most if not all sites here in Ohio.

You'd probably have to discuss with mjdewey -- He is the one who reported Site 47 online with CC of 854.2125.

Yes, two licenses for Muncie. No idea if the other will become active at some point or not. Quite a few licensed sites in Ohio that aren't online (with a few that never will come online because they were replaced with new licenses / site locations not far away). So maybe the Muncie site that is not online is just not online yet, or maybe it was "replaced" with the new site location and associated license.

Mike

PS: Thanks for all of the submitted info. Indiana is looking nice!

online muncie site: tower reg: 1282299 - constructed 8/2012 - owned by Indiana-Michigan Power
offline muncie site: tower reg: 1030912 - constructed 1/2015 - owned by Woof Boom Radio Muncie

So maybe AEP decided to use their own tower for the P25 setup instead of the radio station's tower. Or maybe the other Muncie site will show up at some point online.

Yea, I'm guessing offline tower location was replaced. The offline tower license was issued in 2013, and the online tower license was issued in 2017.
