I live about a mile north of the park. In fact I can see the very top of the stadium at my house. I have the NXDN system programmed on my 436HP and it comes in perfectly if I am driving near the park on the freeway. However, at the house it rarely comes in even with the squelch as low as you can go though the NXDN signature pops up. So obviously this is a low power system. Which antenna would be best for my 436HP to pick up this system at the house?

Whatever antenna that is single band for that system.
Put it outside up high on top of the roof peak and if you can't hear it then, you might need a directional possibly.

I appreciate that but I was looking at an antenna that will just screw on the scanner itself.I have an old telescoping antenna from my old scanner but it won't fit this 436HP different connector. I don't have the patience to run wire and drill holes.

Unless you have an outdoor antenna, as @Reconrider advised, you most likely will not find one that works that is on the radio. Antennas like the telescoping one you have or a rubber duckie just aren't strong enough.

Looks like it is a 900 MHZ system. Try a small 3 element yagi. A 3 element yagi is only about 12x6 inches. First point to the system out the window towards the site. However, you may get a better signal from a reflection off of a mirrored glass building or a water tank than directly off the site.
You can build the yagi from plans from an amateur radio antenna book. Use welding rods and acrylic plastic. The down side of this of course is you have made your receiver a single system receiver in efforts to enhance it for one system you may discriminate others. Good Luck.

The issue is that the system is using 900 mhz which isn't really something seen often in my area. I can't offer any good antennas, but if you want something that goes into the scanner and not outside, I doubt you'll be getting anything good for reception without doing such.

That is what I'm assuming you're talking about and they're using ~100watt output but that doesn't mean they're actually using 100watts.
The mobiles/portables are saying they're using up to ~15 watts which no doubt not help unless you lived less than 1/4 mile away.
At the 100 watts, you'd be good for a few miles if they actually used all the erp listed.
You're biggest issue would be the distance to the antenna and having a lot of RFi between you and their antenna as well as being inside using a ducky or pull antenna which aren't great anyway.

I see there are adapters for my scanner to accept that BNC antenna but it sounds like it won't do much good anyway huh? I live farther away from State Fair grounds but those new NXDN'systems come thru crystal clear. Guess it's about the power.
