Saw the disaster relief guys at a scene of a fire in Queens the other day. I saw a radio which looked to be DMR and by the look of the antenna UHF. Anyone know the frequencies used in the NYC disaster relief teams?

Check 854.3625 and 859.0875, they have numerous transmitter sites located throughout the city, so it appears to possibly be a simulcast of some sort.

Yes, 453.1625 and 453.325 are also possibilities. Extremely unlikely that low band is in use in NYC.

The ERVs are all required to have 47.42 MHz in them. The local teams may use whatever they can license.

The local ARC guys here often have radios (Chinese models are popular) to monitor FDNY Tac-1 (fireground) 486.1125 CSQ, so they can hear what is going on at the fire scene.

Slightly off topic; but as Far as Oneida and Herkimer Counties, they use a county licensed frequency. Most ARC disaster services are also hams, so they most likely use their own radios as well.

My County they were using UHF for day to day ops on a local radio company's repeaters. They still maintained some low band mobiles and a base for nationwide communication if other chapters came in to assist.

Can anyone check if DMR is being used on 461.7625 in NYC? I keep hearing what sounds like DMR or digital on my analog scanner. Unfortunately, I have no dmr equipment.

JFK Medical Center in Edison NJ uses DMR on 461.7625. 40 watt repeater, so you could be picking that up. There are also a bunch of licenses within the city for that frequency with DMR emissions. None for Red Cross, so I'm not sure what that frequency has to do with this thread (yes, I realize that it's your thread, so I suppose you can take it off topic if you really want to)

Yea I just realized that I had that frequency programmed in from hurricane sandy, according to W2LIE's hurricane logs.

Was it identified as any particular usage back then? The only listing in the RRDB I can find within the metro area is that JFK Med Center Security listing.

That's interesting, definitely worth decoding whatever digital is coming over that frequency.
