The one I have was a Motorola signal booster. It is discontinues years ago. However it is the same as the channel master ultra mini amp. Sold on Amazon and online for about $30

I am not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm not getting anything on Amherst PD in P25 mode. These two screen caps as programmed via W500 seem to show that I've got everything entered correctly:

88537
88538

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

It's July 2020 now, a few months later -- maybe they went back to analog?

nope Amherst pd comes in good on 424.300 nac 29a. I had issues picking them up untill i put a 17: small antenna outside. Now it comes in without issue and i am only 8-10 miles away from their station. It seems for me at least the 424mhz freq is a issue to pickup. Niagrara cty is also on 424 mhz and i pick them up hit or miss. However, with my current setup i get Genesee cty, wyoming cty and Chauquatua cty blasting in without issue. The funny thing is amherst Pd shows as 4 out of 5 bars on my signal meter yet wyoming and Chautauqua cty are 5 out of 5.

Agreed still running just fine on that frequency and 29a, I’m not a scammer guy though so not sure about your other settings.

Okay thanks, so, maybe just a range thing. I'll play with the squelch and see if I can somehow do better. Putting an antenna outside in my case is not possible.

I do know that I used to pick up their analog signal fairly well, though, it was not the best. P25 must be inherently more finicky I suppose.

Believe it or not, P25 digital typically improves reception and transmission at the same power level, for radio users at least. Again my scanner knowledge is not quite there. The big downside is that it either works or doesn’t but you end up with a net positive of places we’re the radios are more likely to work than if they were in analog.

Thanks all, a little "adjust-o" on the steel rod antenna deployment height (downward), and position -- and the suggestion to go into NAC search instead of explicitly setting, seems to have done the trick. I'm getting regular back-and-forth stuff (and an occasional buzz saw, but meh). Thanks everyone! Good to hear them again. The company I work for is in their patrol area and I like to keep tabs.

Amherst is coming in crystal clear in my basement in the Southtowns on a basic antenna. I agree, I have issues with Niagara County too. Sometimes NC's TRS is crystal clear, and other times it's just barely able to decode, yet alone spit out anything you can understand. I can pull in SaiaNet's Niagara County towers without issue, but Niagara Counties towers, who are closer to me than the Niagara County towers, are spotty.

Still no luck hearing them on BC785D with digital card, with external antenna, I see the display alternating between NFM/P25 so I know something is being received, I also hear them 10-2 on my other scanners.
