although i'm somewhat trunking literate,it really is not my radio forte.i think i read somewhere that with a 2 way trunking radio of any model,the user is limited to just 32 talkgroups.is this correct ?.

Nope...try explaining that to someone here in NC affiliated with the VIPER Medical Network...their radios have access to around 200 talkgroups...then again it depends on the type of radio and the system you are speaking about..

Smartzone systems are limited to 4,094 talkgroups. Before somebody argues with me and says that number is 65,504 you are incorrect. Just because a talkgroup has a status bit doesn't make it a new talkgroup.

With the Motorola line it can range from 48 to 1000 and is model dependent, but really the limitation is the number of personalities one can program into the radios codeplug.

I know it says 4095, but TGID 4095 is reserved. Don't confuse the person with that stuff, and I think you mean odd values.

And the odd TG values for SmartNet are for TGs that you want to allow priority monitor on. If you don't want priority monitor on that group, it can be even.
