i was looking through some frequencies for Amtrak in CT and i found this

and it was weird because they have

Listed all as active and about 50 watts

does anyone know what Amtrak uses these for?

My notes show that 173.375 is used by the AmTrak Police. PL 203.5 is used by the train patrols (if more than one officer is aboard a train - so they can communicate with each other) and PL 146.2 is used by their Criminal Investigation Division. I have the other two frequencies listed as active but have not confirmed a purpose for them yet.

Hello,

160.9200 is the Road Channel for AMTRAK Northeast Corridor from Boston to New Haven and Springfield to New Haven. From New Haven to beyond the CT state line they use the Metro North Road channel.

160.515 I have listed as AMTRAK MOW.

160.635 I have listed as New Haven Station Services

161,295 Is AMTRAK Police. Different PL codes are used in different areas.

There will be some activity coming up this month:

For four days, beginning June 14 through June 17, Amtrak will replace the movable span of the 90-year-old Thames River Bridge, located between Groton and New London, Connecticut. To accommodate this project, service cancellations will be made affecting travel between Boston, New Haven and New York.

This is the final stage of a multi-year project designed to improve the reliability of the bridge, reduce the chance of operational failures and minimize train delays.

During this four-day track outage, Amtrak will also perform a maintenance "blitz" between Boston and New Haven that will provide passengers with a smoother ride and significantly improve the reliability of the railroad.
