AMTRAK vs. CSX
Dave, that is actually not a CW-9 but an Amtrak GE P42BH prime mover assigned to Amtraks California service corridor, hence the 501 number, just admire the raw beauty of such a beast. AHHH, I love the sound of throbbing engines at LA Union Station in the morning.
PS: Icom1020, Don't you know that AMTRAK is the governments golden haired Casey Jones? They get whatever they want, needed, necessay or not, just look at their past failed toys: Aerotrain, Turbotrain (Now refurbished & relegated to the Empire Service corridor) First generation Metroliner, the E60 which was supposed to be a new & improved replacement to the GG-1, still a failure & still loping along the NEC like a crippled whale on wheels, X2000 & the ICE train, even Acela which barely passed their pre-revenue service trial run shakedowns. The AMTRAK crews actually call the P42BH the "pepsi can", like the AMTRAK NEC crews call the AEM7 the "toaster" & the P42DC Genesis, "Barney" now do you know why the CSX crews call that blue & yellow monster the "Flying nun"?
