Analog frequency

I have an old uniden bearcat scanner which is analog what are some of the analog frequencies here in billings is the database one could search for them or should I get out my scanner and spend 25 to 30 minutes scanning the frequency banks and see what it picks up thx

Welcome to the forums. Take a look at the database & focus on the "mode" column. Any conventional frequency listed as "FMN" in your county is analog. You can certainly tune the bands and you'll likely find other stuff to listen to but if you intend on listening to your LE, Fire & EMS you'll need a P25 Phase-I capable trunking scanner (List here) at the minimum. Since the cells are simulcast I'd highly recommend a Uniden SDS100 or SDS200 to overcome the effects of simulcast distortion. Lastly Billings PD is listed as mode "De" which means partial encryption is in play. So you may only hear one side of the conversation or perhaps it's only encrypted on demand.
