Hello all,
Another question on Lcn dmr finder. How do you use it. I have tried loads of times now and it finds nothing even on busy frequencies. It just sits there doing nothing even when signal bars are full. Are you meant to hear voice in this mode. Cheers for any info. Kev

What radio are you using? And what system like DMR or a trunk system?

Dsd and dmrdecode are only decoding the restchannels information about what LCNs carry traffic. Uniden needs to have the correct frequency programmed for the LCN that carries traffic to be able to set the LCN for it. If LCN finder does nothing you probably do not have all the neccesary frequencies entered into the site.

If it does show the rest channel. You can put 1 freq for example say 1/2 is 451.xxxx put that as lcn 1. 3/4 452.xxx put lcn 2.

Hello Ubbe.
Ofcom Wtr site shows only 2 frequencies for this site which is in the system site info?

Keep that log working and it should eventually say that the rest channels have moved to either LCN3 or LCN4. If not, then there is only one frequency in that site, the one you are monitoring and set that to LCN1. If there are several sites in this system the dmrdecode will eventually (1-2 minute intervals) show that this is site 1 of 2 or something similar.

If the rest channel move, and you have no more burst of data on the frequency, you have to search higher frequencies to catch the LCN2 frequency, that would carry the same TGs as LCN1.

Hello Ubbe, Is there any benefit using the Lcn if you already no the 2 shared frequencies? Im not really understanding this whole Lcn thing Lol.

I see its color code 2 and looks like 1 freq is being used. Try to put LCN 1 in the Freq edit section. The program should have showed what site it is. I don't see that.

Hello again,
I will re-run dmrdecode again and save the log. What do you need me to look for? As to my question before do you need lcn for monitoring?

Yes you'll need to have lcn to follow talkgroups. You can try LCN 1 see what happens. Run the DSDPlus again for about 30 mints see what pops up.

The system sends out data on the control/rest channel and when a conversation starts it will send out what LCN that conversation are using. The "real" radios in the system are programmed so say what frequency each LCN are using. With a scanner you do not have that info and you must figure it out for yourself. Unidens LCN finder could help but it is easier using DSD+ and Dmrdecode.

If the freqeuency and LCN do not match exactly the scanner will try and monitor a frequency where there is no conversation and goes back to the control/rest channel and repeat until it uses a LCN that has a correct frequency.

Looks as if both frequencies are LCN1/2 and must be two different sites. The frequencies are probably too close to belong to the same site. You don't have any more DMR channels a bit higher up in frequency?

Enter these two frequencies in two different sites as LCN1. When you find two other frequencies with CAP+ signalling you program one in one site and the other in the other site as LCN2s. If that doesn't work you have to switch the LCN2 frequencies around.
