I sent them a E-Mail asking if i could bring in a handheld scanner and i got this in reply.

Sir

Could you provide me a bit more detail on your request. If your referring
to a standard handheld radio/police scanner bought from radio shack similar
to a portable radio then yes you may bring it as long as it can be
inspected and hand carried. Large bags and or containers will not be
authorized unless previous identified on the 2012 Joint Service Open House and Air Show website.

Probably one of the most professional responses I have seen in a long time on this subject. You should thank them for this stance.

That is indeed a well written response. I am excited that I can bring my scanner into the airshow this year after not allowed the last two years.

I thanked him very much for his response. I am just worried about any last minute changes to that i went to McGuire this past weekend and sat i could not bring my scanner in and i asked because it was not on the website and they saidn it was a lat minute decision. So i hope i can bring my scanner in this weekend. Does anyone know if they are still doing construction on the runway. I was looking at video from last year and it looked like they were doing construction on the closest runway. Is anyone going to the show Friday if they can post up what they hear that would be awsome.

Take that comment about wearing sunscreen very seriously. You can get a nasty sunburn with the sun reflecting off the tarmac.

Nothing in the NOTAMs about it. Some pads and taxiways have construction going on.

I don't know about Ham radio's being allowed that could cause interference with some comms

No, unless they switch back to FDMA for some reason (which does happen on occasion, but not all that often)

I would love to bring my Yaesu FT-60 to the show.
I just don't want to drive all the way down, stand in line for 30+ min. just to be told I can't take my Ham radio in. If I make it inside with the radio I'll be on 146.520MHz.

Hope they don't tell me to bring it back to the scanner
