Thought this was interesting. They mentioned on the news that AACo. is the most technologically advanced in the state.
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Despite a blot on its record last summer when a call-taker was caught napping, Anne Arundel County's 911 center is getting an award from the state.
The state Emergency Number Systems Board gave the award to the county for "exceeding expectations" at the 911 center. In a letter this month, the board's director, Gordon Deans, praised the "due diligence" of the county's emergency personnel.
Last July, a Glen Burnie resident who called to report a possible burglar waited one minute and 42 seconds for a response because an operator was taking a nap. Tapes of the call revealed the call-taker was snoring, and he was reprimanded.
