Anne Arundal Dispatch (both on the analog and trunked system) are transmitting tones (like officer down or 10-3 tones) on the main dispatch channel. ANyone know what the deal is?

I've been listening since about 9a.m. but haven't heard anything like that David. The only tone I'm hearing on TG16 is the opening "here I come" tone and on 154.01 the normal alert tones but nothing other than those.

Thanks

They have since stopped. I believe there was some sort of radio problem, and they did not want people to use that channel.

I heard a bunch of tones around 5pm today... one right after the other... not sure what is going on.

It just dawned on me that occasionally the actual
VHF "pager" tones can be heard on the 800 TRS.
If you aren't used to hearing them, it can be a bit
of a suprise.

The stations are alerted on 154.01 via pagers. Most
of the time, if you only listen to the TRS, you don't
hear them.

I have noticed fire alarm doing station alert tests
more often recently. It seems like calls aren't
coming across verbally more than usual. In fact,
last week, my unit was dispatched and the only reason
we knew it was because we got a printout and it appeared
on the CAD screen. We had to call fire alarm to get
confirmation that we were supposed to go. I heard a
similar situation tonight were a PM unit was dispatched
and when they didn't respond in the expected three minutes,
FA redispatched as if the call didn't go out the first time
(which I don't understand because I heard it on my pager...)

I think it may have alot to do with the transition from the old station monitor pagers to the new CM 200 station monitor radios. Just working out the bugs.

Are you suggesting that the AACoFD station pagers are being
replaced by radios with two-way capability? That would
be news to me....

Do you believe this is already occuring somewhere?
If so, where?

TX has been disabled, these are just replacing the aging pager sets. Transition should be completed in the next 2 weeks or less.

Interesting - we can't get towers to bring full functionality
to the mobile radio system but we can get replacement
alert radios to replace radios that are working fine....
Makes sense. :?

Not that I doubted you :D but I just checked
and found one that was installed this past
Thursday....

I also heard we will be getting new portables... the
ones we have are only 1+ year old... what's that all
about?

The portables you have now are on a lease, the county doesn't own them. The new ones you will get (lord knows when) will be yours to keep.
