Annoying noise on trunking scanner Pro 164

I programed my Radio Shack Pro 164 Triple Trunking scanner with the software here.

This is what I programed for Henry County Indiana, seems to be working except for the

annoying noise it makes about every 30 seconds, some times it varies. It starts out trying

to break the squelsh several times and then it will break the squelsh with a long blast

simalar to the sound that the control channels make. Have tried changing mode, changing

attenuator, running just on batteries, changed from rubber duck antenna to out door scanner

antenna. Nothing seems to slow it down. I live in the country so there is nothing except

drought dead corn fields. If anybody got any idea it would be highly appreaciated. Thanks! PS I do have a cell tower 3 miles away!

Sounds like you're getting some P-25 digital transmissions from the"Indiana Project Hoosier SAFE-T" system. Since your scanner is analog only it can't decode them. You may need to upgrade to a digital scanner to get what you want to listen to. Something like the RS Pro-106 should work.

My wife bought this for my birthday, I guess I had the wrong idea as to what it will do. I thought it would decode the digital 800mhz signals. I hope Radio Shack will take it back. Thank You for the info!

Just got my new Pro 106, you are right, it works great. Thanks for the help
