Read in Fridley newspaper that comes out every 12 weeks that Anoka Co.Hired a consulting firm in 2012 for about 3 million giving Anoka Co.43 sotware vendors to choose from to add upgrades to the Anoka county system by mid-2013 costing about 8 million dollars
anyone else see this?
Im not sure what changes there will be and how it will affect scanners.

they are probably going to move to ASTRO 7.13, which, depending on the options purchased by the SRB, will add TDMA capacities to the system and add soem capacities to MCC7500 consoles. There are a couple of other changes, but the TDMA/FDMA multimode capabilities are the biggest things that come with both the 7.11 and 7.13 upgrades as far as i know.

But dont worry, the sky is not falling in spite of the introduction of TDMA capabilities! Only APX series radios are capable of this, so as long as the economy sucks and agencies still have CENTRACOM Gold Elite Consoles XTS and XTL radios, FDMA will continue to prevail. TDMA will only be the format if an agency has stricly TDMA capable radios on a specific talkgroup. When an older radio logs in, then it is forced back to FDMA.

Maybe an upgrade to the CAD system?. I agree TDMA is a ways off, too many older radios to replace with newer very expensive radios. When cities like Fridley laying off Cops, the money should go there first. The ARMER system is it's present form works fine. Channel capacity at this time is fine and there are still 800MHz pairs still out there to use.

I saw an article the Anoka Co Joint LE commission was working on a new mobile data platform that would be common and include fire as well. They had a study done over the last year and issued an RFP for software vendors for a 2013-2014 install.

We need a new cad up here badly... Our current cad is archaic on the fire end. I had heard something about this a year ago but i think they were trying to let the dust settle after their longtime PSAP manager retired. John was a good manager but a bit behind the times. I think this is one of a handful of changes coming to 2800 in the next couple of years.

Wasn't there talk of a metro wide data network on 700mHz to rollout sometime after all counties went live on ARMER. May have gone away when the metro radio board went away a few years ago.
