Another 396T Question

Hey,

A few weeks ago, I was in Orange Co, FL and could not hear anything, on ID SCAN. I programmed it as A Motorola Type Standard and entered all the CCs for the system. Last week, I was back there and could still not hear anything on any channel. It scans but there is no reception bar. Any ideas on what might be wrong. Shoul I just delete and reprogram the whole system ?

There are about 20 trunked systems in Orange County in the RR database which one are you trying to listen to?

The public safety system has about 13 different areas with different control channels for each area. I think this means that you have to program 13 different systems into the scanner. You don't want the scanner to pick up more than one control channel per system.

So you can only program one site frequencies ?

Each site has their own control channel, 13 different systems. There are also 13 different zones for the talkgroups, each one related to the 13 different systems for Orange County.

I programmed OPD, Fire, Sheriff, etc .. as different groups in one system and put all the site CCs in. Should I just put the Orlando site CCs with all those groups since im just going to be around Orlando at the airport ?

I made a mistake. If you want to hear the entire Statewide Public Safety system you have to program all 13 systems. Take a look at all 13 systems and see which one cooresponds to Orange County.

I would put the CC for Orlando in 868.93750, and put the scanner in search mode. Do you know which FHP troop is for Orlando? If you do, you can program in the talkgroups for that troop. You can also put the scanner in search and store if you wanted to.

Orlando has it's own system the contol channels are:

Each one of these frequencies should be put into your Orlando sytem, some CC's change everyday. TG's for Orlando are listed in the RR database.

If you are going to the Airport it is a LTR system.

I was referring to the Orange Co, FL public safety. That is where the Airport Authority TGs are, at least the interesting ones.
Originally, I put all the primary CCs in, but I'm going to change that and put all the Orlando site frequencies.

Well, I was in Orlando this evening with the Orange Co programmed with the Orlando site Control Channels. Didn't hear anything in ID SCAN mode but in ID SEARCH it would stop on TGs showing only the DECs not the name (pretty sure I programmed those IDs with a name but not 100% sure). anybody have any suggestions on what's wrong?

Make sure your TGID's don't have any leading or trailing spaces in them. When I first got my 396 software, I created some systems by using copy & paste from the RR database and all the TGID's had a trailing space that caused them to be ignored (i.e. "4096 " is not the same as "4096").

I did copy and paste on Excel then on UASD, that might be why. I'll reprogram it and see what happens. I hope that's it. Thanks

It's worth checking. You can use Excel's TRIM() function to remove all leading and trailing spaces. If your data is in cell A1, pick an empty cell and use =TRIM(A1). Then copy & paste the data from the cell(s) with the formula.
