Another AA FD question

While monitoring AA county Fire Dispatch this afternoon, I heard
a new (to me) type of unit dispatched. It was "OEM-2". Does
anyone have a clue as to what type of unit this is?

Also, I heard an "ALL HANDS BOX" dispatch. Lots of units sent
to this one.

"OEM" is a common abbreviation for "Office of Emergency Management." Perhaps someone from AA County can clarify further.

Also....

OEP-Office of Emergency Preparedness is used in Balto Co.

"OEM2 is the Division Chief assigned to Emergency Management. Also runs as a Safety Officer"

As long as you stay out of the "My fire hose is longest" arguments between the departments, you can usually get a few good tidbits and see some nice pictures of apparatus...

As I told Mlevin, it's a rather "spirited" atmosphere.

While I'll agree that you can get some interesting
and/or useful information there, I can tell you first
hand that you cannot believe everything that you
read... I was checking out a specific thread over
there the other day and I know for a fact that much
of what I was reading was being posted by people who
"think" they know when in fact the information was
incorrect.

I opted no to get into the fray... assumed it just
wouldn't help...

Just like anything else ... get a second opinion...

Point taken about getting a second opinion.
I find that the TW is an interesting window into the world of Firefighting Politics; Some of the arguments are just bizarre to an outsider...
I have learned a great deal about fire boxes and run cards and how apparatus is dispatched, which I didn't know previously..

I guess you take the good with the bad....

I agree - there's allot of information out there and
much of it may be right...

I just seem to see all of the venting and personal
opinions which in many cases are people just pissed
off about something and see it as a forum to slam
others.
