Here's what I've been working on. Not much, just a place to localize all the radios since they were taking over the bar area in the dining room.

XTS 5000 800

Regency M400 Touch

Uniden BC350A

Uniden BC700A

Bearcat WX Radio

Vertex VX150

The other two are radios I've got listed in the FS section.

I will add a night pic later.

Motorola XTS - XTL Radios

I've noticed quite a few Motorola XTS portable radios, and possibly one XTL mobile on these pages. As a Motorola authorized dealer, it takes ME days to acquire any of the "high-end" models when ordered from my Moto factory sources. I have to fill out a questionnaire, with details of the prospective customer, what they will be using it for, what frequency, bandplan, protocol (conventional vs. trunking) and all sorts of intricacies and hoops I have to jump through before Motorola will provide me with a pricing breakdown. Then, it has to go to my ADM (area district manager), and only if he or she approves it, can I place my order. There have been times when I was "outbid" by another Motorola shop, and couldn't get the radio because the other shop in my geographic area "beat me to it," which I don't think is fair. I've only been doing this full-time since October '06, but I'd say it's one of the most difficult radio platforms to order out of everything Motorola has available to its dealers.

This is a topic for another area, but I'd like to also know where all of you guys get your XTS and XTL Moto gear from.

Perhaps the mods can split these two posts off and start another thread in the Moto forum?

Update to my post. Someone offered me a Regency VHF programmable and I think I'll get it. Anyone know a good source on how to program these? Also, what type of power supply would that require for indoor use?

Someone mentioned the weather radio, funny story. I bought that a Meijer in Indianapolis (off 38th street). When I was looking at it in the case, I didn't see a price. They probably had 3 or 4 left. I walked all over that store looking for someone to tell me the price. They scanned it, came up with nothing. It was as if they never stocked it. I ended up talking to the assistant manager and we agreed on $10! I should have bought all of them and turned a small profit :)
