Im planning on getting an SDS100 scanner here in the not too distant future and I decided to download Sentinal and get all my area channels ahead of time...that being said, Would I be correct in assuming that the scanner would use the "favorites" files that I make? I may have missed the answer in another thread and didn't want to hijack that thread. Again this is just for my edification. Thanks!

Yes….
One of the abilities of the Uniden radios is to be able to easily turn off/on these favorite lists.
(also systems / departments /and sites using quick keys).

Also, when coupled with a GPS, the radio will turn on/off these favorites as you move through different areas.

Okay thanks for sharing that. One more question since you bring up GPS, If I am stationary, can I disable GPS and just listen to whats on my favorites?

Sort of. . . When you get your scanner, part of the setup process involves entering your location's zip code. That "fixes" your location. If you get a GPS device and connect it to the scanner, the GPS device will send location information to your scanner if you move around.

If you set Location Control to Off for your Favorites Lists, they are always scanned regardless of where you are.

Okay, is the zip code feature going to have any effect on what I monitor outside my zip? For example I choose to monitor a TRS in a neighboring State (I live 15 minutes from the Ohio Border) just for grins. Will I be able to do so? Sorry for all the dumb questions.

Your question is the same one I had when I was new, so it ain't dumb. The zip code establishes your location. The Range button establishes how far out you reach to attempt to receive something. It is a 360 degree circle, so that means if you reach out 15 miles North, you are also reaching out 15 miles South, East and West.

This might lead you to scanning more than desired, If that happens, you may wish to consider building Favorites Lists including just the desired "stuff".

I just ordered the SDS100 and new to Sentinel. How do I set up the scanner? I noticed on YouTube setting-up manually with scanner in hand but can I set-up scanner via Sentinel? Seems Sentinel would be much faster rather than pushing all those key pad buttons.
Also I noticed in YouTube when setting up favorites lists I MUST engage the quick keys for every list. My question is how do I use quick keys with scanner in hand. Thanks

Quick answer is Yes... to Sentinel. Quick key not required, but sure makes it easier.

That's not true, it's optitional. It only helps you to manually turn off and on systems, talkgroups and frequencies. Without them you have to use the menu system to do that. Quick keys are a quicker way of doing the exact same thing as you can do by using the menu system.
