Another strange one

As some of you may know, the fire simplex freqs. are common to the 4 local counties.
If you have them programmed into your scanner you probably never hear anything, since the range is quite limited.
Anyway, off and on, perhaps 3 times in the past couple of months I have heard conversations in Spanish on 853.3875, the Fire Mayday freq. I wonder if anyone else has heard it. If you have and if you understand Spanish, can you identify what/who is talking?

Are you stationary or moving around when you here this? Could it be a signal coming through from another source such as cable tv etc. I have that problem on a couple of channels down my way.

I put it into my setup, I did hear some chatter, but none of it was powerful enough to come through. What I heard sounded english though.

I think it was early AM - 6 or 7AM? Only heard it two or 3 times within 3 or 4 months.

Re. 155.7525, there are 13 Public Safety licenses all around the state on that freq., so If you are hearing Spanish on it, they are definitely illegal.

20 COMMON SIMPLEX FREQUENCIES

These are the conventional freqs. that are in most (all?) Fire Dept. radios in all 4 counties;
Clackamas, Clark, Multnomah and Washington. They are not part of the trunking
systems. They are strictly unit to unit (simplex) so you will need to be within a few
blocks to hear them. The left column is the radio switch position. So if someone
says switch to G14, you will know what it is.

MAYDAY is for use by a lost or trapped firefighter. There is a 3-positon switch
on our portable radios (A,B & C) so no matter which position it is in, we simply
turn the selector dial to the farthest clockwise position and it will be on MAYDAY.

and on these 10 conventional frequencies in the Portland metro area, unless you specifically set your radio to simplex or direct mode, you will be on a repeater.

No the 155 is getting bleed over for Charter Cable. I was wondering if you may be suffering from a near by signal rather than an actual transmission. My area still has UHF TV and so you can hear them in the 800's in certain locations of DC.

Trunked systems are impervious to that type of interference.
