Anyone have experience with using an Antenex base loaded mobile (VHF-Low) antenna with the Antenex VHF/UHF base adaptor (it has ground radials)? A search of this forum yields prior postings suggesting quality control issues w/ the Antenex base-loaded antennas.....wondering if this is still the case. I don't have much experience w/ this particular product line.

Thanks.

I have had great experiences with the Antenex line of products. Several install shops around the county use nothing but Antenex.

Although I don't have any experience with the antenna you are looking for, you will most likely be impressed with the performance. They use high quality materials.

I used to regularly sell most brands of mobile antenna. Maxrad, Larsen, Antenex, etc. After selling countless thousands of antennas, the only brand that I regularly turn to is Antenex. The materials and construction are top notch, and they stand behind their products. And, as an Antenex dealer, I also stand behind their products 100%.

It sounds like you are interested in a C-base antenna and the MBC adapter. The radials on the adapter aren't really designed for lowband; more for highband. However, it would probably work ok for receive only, or maybe low power transmit.

[EDIT]: You could also just extend the radials with stiff wire if you wanted.

Call or email me with what your end goal is, and I will try to work up a good solution for you.

Thanks,
Jeff
