Antenna 2m mobile

Hey everyone I am studying for my ham radio exam (slow going) but I am looking at buying the Yaesu FTM-300DR to install only 2022 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2 door
What would you recommend for a antenna just for the 2m band maybe the 70cm band
I have a Kenwood TS-430S at my house for HF

You can do the gimmicky ham/hobby antennas, or you can buy one antenna and have it outlast your next 5 vehicles and then pass it down to your grandkids.

There are many dual band mobile antennas made for 2 meters and 70cm. The first thing to do would search out where the antenna would be mounted and whether there is a suitable ground plane. A buddy of mine mounted a CB antenna to the spare tire mount and a 2m/70cm antenna to an off-road light mount at the lower driver's side of the windshield. With the amount of plastic in Jeep Wrangler construction, a half-wave antenna (which doesn't require a ground plane) is one possible choice. If you're in a Jeep club, ask the other members what they use.

The FTM-300DR is capable of cross-band repeat, a dual band antenna as mentioned above is the best option. The diplexer for repeater operation is built-in to the radio.

My first contact as a ham was on CW as a novice with a friend's TS-430.
