Hey.. when I have my Max Systems 800 on it pulls in my more distant MPLS P25 system (15 miles) better than the RS800. BUT... my locals come in better with the RS800... with the better antenna it is FULL of pauses and gaps! Even though it's much closer!

Since the local tower is closer... could the better antenna be overloading and causing silent pauses?

You can't attenuate a control channel can you? And since my PRO-96 doesn't need the voice channels I can't attenuate those, right?

Hopefully someone has some experience here to give me a bone.

EDIT: Also.. does squelch have ANY effect when I am ONLY using a P25 system?

I know I can attenuate via Win96... but I only have the control channels programmed in these banks (since the Pro-96 can handle CC only with no voice channels needed). I don't want to globally attenuate.. since that would block out tons of other further out stuff.

So..same questions as above...

1- Could a local (withing a few miles) P25 system be too strong for the better antenna monitoring P25 system?
2- If I attenuate the CC... doest that spill over to the (NOT programmed) voice channels?

Maybe I SHOULD program the voice channels and attenuate them individually???

I tried to attenuate the voice channels... doesn't work... still goes by the control channel! :( And when I attenuate the control channel... the Pro-96 is deaf!... nothing!

Crazy.. I don't want to have to change antenna's depending on how distant my P25 system is away from me.. that would be a huge pain.
