It would be nice if they would tell you what the three elements are tuned for.

(Big bad assumpion here)

One is VHF high (160), one is UHF(450), and one is 800.

How much more antenna do you need than you have?

1 Want to clean up some mildly scratchy signals (2 to 6 dB)
2 Want to listen to some unreadable signals (5 to 15 dB)
3 Want to hear things that don't break squelch (or just barly break squelch) (10 to 30 dB)

#1 is realistic over a duck, and likely over a whip
#2 is unlikely, but posible
#3 is doubtfull

Setting expectations is very important.

Thanks for the reply. I have a pro94 and would l like to get better reception over all. Wanted something small in height that would sit on top of a book shelf. I listen mostly to police, fire, and aircraft.
