I'm going to order a new antenna tomorrow for my scanner (alongside one for my TM281a that I'm installing), for the time being I have been using a borrowed Laird 1/4 wave VHF with a twist on end, but I'm wanting to purchase one myself to mount on the truck. Would there be any advantages ordering a scanner antenna vs a standard radio antenna? Most of the traffic I receive is VHF, but I also travel to nearby states with UHF and 800MHz traffic as well.

I have three RS 25-1.3 20-175 ground plane antennas and 50' of LMR400 coax which really makes the scanners come alive mounted on my tower and two in the attic....They are compact and work great on all bands especially the 700/800mgz IL Starcom Digital system.....
