Antenna for the BCD396T

I found an antenna on the internet for the BCD396T, was curious if anyone has used this or if it would even make that big of a difference with reception? I am posting the information below.


This is a high quality Centurion model EXE-806-SM 800MHz half wave dipole antenna with the SMA connector for the Uniden BCD396T scanner. This antenna will drastically improve your 800MHz reception, and it requires absolutely no adapters. This antenna also works well for VHF and UHF signals. I use the radioshack 800mhz rubber duckie with the adapter and it works _GREAT_. The reception is awesome. If I want to receive VHF/UHF, I just use the antenna that came with the 396t. It works ok on 800mhz, but excellent on VHF/UHF.

Well, I felt like spending some money so I bought one of those antennas on eBay. I live like 3 hours from this guy, so hopefully it won't take very long to get here.

I also posted on the Antenna Board and they said that it will work well if you do not move your scanner while using it. I guess if I am going to go portable I could use the one that came with it and if I am just sitting at home I could use this one.
