A quote from the the companies uninformed shyster: "Within five minutes we had" the tree "connected and transmitting on VHF to an airplane 14 miles overhead -- double the range we could get from a standard antenna on the ground," Sutera said".

What kind of BS is that? A standard aircraft antenna on the ground talking to an aircraft only goes 7 miles?

Fourteen MILES?

Don't think there is likely to be many airplanes flying at 74,000 feet that will be talking unencrypted on the air bands.
